Tracks in studio art include the areas of ceramics, painting & drawing, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. The art history program at 黑料吃瓜网 is interdepartmental: the undergraduate program in liberal arts lives within the College of Humanities & Social Sciences, and the graduate program and art history faculty live within the College of Art & Design鈥檚 School of Art. Digital Art
The digital art Bachelor of Fine Arts program at 黑料吃瓜网 is a cross-disciplinary concentration that nurtures creative insight, theoretical grounding, and practical expertise. STUDIO ARTS
Ceramics
The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art ceramics program encompasses an expansive investigation of the ceramic material, its historical precedent, and its contemporary application for visual art. The ceramics curriculum includes wheel-throwing, hand-building, slip-casting, tile-making, raw material study, studio practice, methodology development, and special topics classes as well as seminars that enhance critical thinking through writing, presentations, and critiques. Painting & Drawing
The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art painting & drawing program provides an intellectual and creative environment that addresses an awareness of traditional conventions in the context of current forms, methods, and issues. It stresses both breadth and depth and offers a wide array of artistic experiences from figure and landscape painting to abstract painting, water media, and performance and installation art. Photography
The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art photography program merges new and traditional techniques with the critical concerns of contemporary art. Students explore a full array of conventional and experimental processes through course work and independent study in darkrooms and studios available for work in black and white, color, large format, non-silver, studio lighting, and digital photography. Printmaking
The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art printmaking program embraces traditional, digital, and new, advanced ways of image making. Students explore and create using a continuum of processes while learning hands-on about the power of print, from its earliest history and traditional practices such as lithography, intaglio, relief, silkscreen, book arts, and papermaking to its current potential with the application and integration of digital innovation and 3D printing and scanning technologies. Sculpture
The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art sculpture program provides students with a high-quality, comprehensive education in the three-dimensional arts. The undergraduate program begins by giving each student a broad base introduction to the many possibilities of sculpture. Intermediate courses provide specific instruction in process and technique as well as development of individual aesthetic direction. Bachelor of Art & Design (BA)
The Bachelor of Art (BA) is a more general art and design degree. With the BA, you do not select a concentration, but rather you take a custom mix of art and design classes that integrate your interests across any area(s) within the School, and beyond. This degree is 30-40% studio based, and requires that students also pursue an 鈥渁pproved course of study鈥� after the second year. This is planned with an advisor to assure a meaningful and relevant set of classes. This could also be a minor outside of the School of Art, or a double major.
There are numerous free electives built into this degree in order for you to earn the minor and/or double major. Students can truly tailor this degree to their different interests.
