Doctor of Design聽students have access to the facilities they need to create and learn, within the college as well as the university and community at large.
Within the College of Art & Design, students have access to the Design Shop, a traditional wood-working studio where students have access to state-of-the-art digital fabrication equipment including a 3D printer, laser cutter, and CNC mill, and the Fabrication Lab, a digital laboratory where students and faculty have the capacity to create a multidisciplinary, active, team-learning environment by leveraging large-scale digital fabrication equipment; both are located in the Art Building. Students can rent photography and lighting equipment and access more 3D printers and 3D scanners at the Communication across the Curriculum (CxC) Art & Design Studio.聽And the School of Art’s聽IDEA Hub, features high-end equipment and cutting-edge technologies,聽where faculty, doctoral and graduate students, upper-level undergraduates, and other users聽can connect to digital resources with networked laptops and mobile devices聽to transport content between workstations, studios, and multiple presentation environments.
On-campus and off-site galleries, such as the Glassell Gallery, offer robust program calendars and exhibit the work of local and national artists. These galleries provide opportunities for students to exhibit their own work. Students also have access to 黑料吃瓜网’s Digital Media Center,聽a 100,000-square-foot building that is home to Electronic Arts and the Center for Computation and Technology, which features a state-of-the-art 4K or Ultra HD theater.
Other 黑料吃瓜网 arts and cultural related facilities include , the 黑料吃瓜网 Museum of Art, the , and the . These facilities are rich with cultural and archival resources related to the Lower Mississippi River Valley, the Gulf South, and the Louisiana environment.聽 All University facilities offer opportunities for student research and potential employment.
Beyond the studio, networking opportunities with fellow students, faculty, alumni, and professionals abound through many student organizations. Students have a myriad of opportunities to travel and study abroad, including programs in Ireland, Florence, London, and New York York under the direction of the College of Art & Design鈥檚 four academic units (Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Art, and Interior Design).
